WHAT IS THE VISIONOVA FF AND WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?
The VisioNova Film Festival is an international short film event based in Rome, celebrating innovation in audiovisual storytelling. It stands out for its focus on creative experimentation, cultural dialogue, and its mission to connect emerging voices from around the world through new cinematic perspectives.
HOW CAN I SUBMIT MY SHORT FILM TO THE FESTIVAL?
Submissions are accepted exclusively through the online platform FilmFreeway. Applicants must fill out the official entry form, upload their film, and include all required materials such as stills, posters, and subtitles if necessary.
WHERE AND WHEN WILL THE 2026
The 2026 edition will include four curated events, each dedicated to one of the festival’s thematic sections. All events will take place in a single prestigious venue located in the historic center of Rome, offering an immersive and cohesive experience throughout the year.
DO FILMS NEED TO BE SUBTITLED?
Yes, the festival is open to filmmakers of all nationalities. Films in any language are welcome, but works not in Italian must include English subtitles.
ARE THEY ANY SPECIFIC THEMES OR GENRES REQUIRED FOR SUBMISSION?
Each edition of the festival focuses on a different theme — for 2026, the central topic is The Journey in all its forms: necessity, spirituality, change, memory, and horizon. However, all genres and styles are welcome, from fiction to documentary, animation, and experimental film.
WHAT KIND OF AWARDS OR RECOGNITIONS ARE GIVEN DURING THE FESTIVAL?
VisioNova awards three main prizes at each edition: Best Film, Best Performance, and Best Technical-Artistic Achievement.
At the conclusion of the festival cycle, a special VisioNova Award will be assigned to the short film that stood out the most across all four events, for its originality, consistency, or artistic impact.
